 | David Kawena: David Kawena's Hottest Dish |
|
|
With Madonna's new album Hard Candy coming out in stores next month, our friend and collaborator David Kawena has put together another of hid breathtaking artworks exclusive to MadonnaTribe.
This time David has been working four weeks to complete this work: "Ever since I read on the Tribe that it is officially known that Madonna is working with Timber-Timba and Pharrell on the new album, I hade a vision of a drawing I wanted to", David tells us. "I had sketches of it for more then two months now, but only four weeks ago I really got to sit down and start working on the drawing. Thinking of what the new album might sound like I asked myself - 'What is Madonna cooking for us next?' then I came up with the 'dinner' idea", David explains.
"Here came up Justin Timberlake and Pharrell kind of like Madonna's servants, as I think they both 'served' us all with great music in the past years, and Timbaland is defiantly the hottest 'dish' around right?! Now, heaving all the ingredients of a great meal, you'll need the perfect place to make it all happen - and what is better then a royal kitchen right?! Here enters the queen!!! Only Madonna can upgrade it all into new heights and give everything the royal treatment! And these are my hopes for the new album - (judging from the first single, 4 minutes - my hopes came true big time!) I wanted to create a mix up of newer versions of Madonna we got to see this past year as I really loved that look on her as well as keeping some old elements from her career here and there too, that I'm sure fans will recognise in this 'teaser-like' poster for the upcoming album", David, says.
We would like to congratulate David Kawena for this great piece of work and say we are very proud to present it to fans as a MadonnaTribe exclusive. Click to zoom.

 | David Kawena: His own Confessions Tour poster |
|
|
We've been keeping this section of the website "spoiler free" during the months of th Confessions Tour, so we decided to present the astonishing artwork by artist David Kawena from Israel you see below on our Tour website only.
Now that the "Confessions" are over, and in case you have missed it, here it is, to be added to our collection of inspired fan art.
As you can see David has put together another amazing portrait of the Queen of Pop and two of most popular tour dancers, Cloud and Mihran for what can be considered his own personal "tour poster".
What makes this artwork even more unique is the fact that David Kawena completed this work eight days ago, before the tour began, when only the Jean Paul Gaultier sketeches of the tour costume designs were available as a source of inspiration and as a reference for the new look.
That's way Cloud and Mirhan are not exactly in the same outfits as in the show - but they are even more impressive for this same reason.

Special thanks to our friend David Kawena.

 | David Kawena: The Art of David Kawena |
|
|
We are happy to show our readers the talent of our friend and site contributor and correspondent from Israel David Kawena, who has sent in some of his amazing drawings and portraits of Madonna.
David would also like to introduce himself better to our readers:
"After a long time of "surfing" to the MadonnaTribe site almost 5 times a day, and especially after seeing all the great artworks at the fan art galleries, I have decided to share my fan arts too! I've been drawing ever since I was a little boy, mostly cartoon characters - especially Disney - and from the moment Madonna came into my life my work has been changed/improved so much! Madonna - as the ultimate artist that she is - became my muse, and had inspired me to keep on doing what I love most and always try to improve and explore new things, never be afraid to fail... While I was studing animation in Bezalel - Academy of Art and Design" in Jerusalem (following my dream of becoming a Disney animator one day) Madge appeared in A LOT of my works! Not only by using her image, but also by using her songs as plots for my animated movies ideas...
I would like to take this opportunity to share my Madonna related drawings/paintings with you guys, and also to thank you MADONNA for inspiring me (and millions of others around the world), in so many aspects of my life, from art to heart, showing me to how become a better version of myself, reinvent my life by reinventing herself... If you're out there reading this Madonna - Thank you for sharing your talent and beliefs with the world, thank you for your endless love and compashion towards all men kind without any prejudice... "Don't stop doin' what your doin' baby, Don't stop - keep movi' - keep groovin'..." - Thank god for you!"
Here is the first fantastic drawing by David Kawena that we see today is inspired by Madonna's appearance at Live 8.
David also explains:"I've been drawing ever since I was a little boy, mostly cartoon characters - especially Disney - and from the moment Madonna came into my life my work has been changed/improved so much! Not only by using her image, but also by using her songs as plots for my animated movies ideas."
The second stunning Madonna drawing by David Kawena is inspired by Vogue from the re-Invention tour.
This third drawing is a black and white sketch inspired by the re-Invention tour and the first video of American Life. As you can see the image on the left and the detail of Madonna's face worked as preliminary drawings for the image we showed you above.

The following two pieces are part of one of his university projects inspired by the album Music.

David Kawena liked so much the video for Hollywood by Mondino that he "had" to draw something from it. And here's the beautiful result.
David Kawena explains how he came up to create the amazing portrait you see below. "After a long time of searching the web for some HQ pics of RIT's Bedtime Story video - with no real success - I've decided to make one myself".
Special thanks to David Kawena
